Job Description
The Real Estate Development Project Manager will oversee and manage all phases of our diverse development projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent project management skills, a deep understanding of real estate markets, strong vendor and contractor relationships, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams effectively. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with company values and community goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, permitting, budgeting, design, and construction phases of real estate development projects from inception through closeout.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, local governments, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and high-quality delivery.
Develop detailed project schedules, financial forecasts, and cost controls to monitor and manage budget adherence.
Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle to avoid delays or cost overruns.
Facilitate communication between all project participants, including investors, property managers, leasing agents, and marketing teams.
Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
Conduct site visits and inspections regularly to monitor progress and quality.
Ensure all projects meet or exceed safety, environmental, and zoning regulations.
Prepare and present regular status reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Support the company’s mission by promoting sustainable development practices and community-focused design principles.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience managing real estate development projects, preferably in mixed-use or master-planned communities.
Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
Strong knowledge of local zoning laws, building codes, and permitting processes in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Procore).
Financial acumen with experience managing project budgets and forecasts.
Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple job sites as required.
